PEPR H-2

Decarbonated hydrogen

Research and development (R&D) has a major role to play in supporting the deployment of new industrial sectors. With this in mind, the French government has decided to support the development of the hydrogen industry through the PEPR-H2 Priority Research Program and Equipment.

PEPR-H2 is designed to encourage and support upstream research activities at a low or intermediate level of technological maturity (TRL 1 to 4 range), in line with the priorities defined in the national hydrogen plan.

This initiative represents a major boost to the development of next-generation hydrogen materials, components and systems in the medium term, and to the creation of breakthroughs that will open up new industrial opportunities in the longer term.

The program addresses the issues of low-carbon hydrogen production, its use in heavy mobility (electric or internal combustion engines), and its storage. Research is also carried out to support the deployment of hydrogen systems through life-cycle analyses, technical and socio-economic studies and safety aspects.
