Engineer in electron microscopy applied to nano-objects (M/F)

Apply on the CNRS website before Tuesday, October 28.

The CNRS is looking for an engineer specializing in electron microscopy applied to nano-objects (M/F).

Within the ESPCI’s NanoTech platform, you will be responsible for designing and developing techniques and conducting electron microscopy experiments for the structural, physical, and physicochemical characterization of materials. You will maintain the electron microscopy platform and train users.

Activities

As the engineer responsible for two TEM microscopes, your role will mainly consist of:

  • Using transmission and scanning electron microscopy to gain knowledge about the nature and properties of the materials studied
  • Conducting or supervising experiments, processing experimental data, and interpreting results in relation to research objectives
  • Maintaining and regularly monitoring equipment performance in conjunction with manufacturers and/or suppliers
  • Training and assisting users on the principles and implementation of one or more characterization techniques.

Skills

As an engineer or holder of a PhD in experimental physics, you have a strong interest in TEM/STEM/SEM experiments.

  • You have in-depth knowledge of materials science and materials characterisation techniques.
  • With excellent listening skills, you are able to respond quickly to user requests. You also have strong teaching skills.
  • Proactive and full of ideas, you are committed to continuous service improvement.

Work environment

You will join the Laboratory of Physics and Materials Science (LPEM) located at the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles (ESPCI) in Paris.

ESPCI is both a prestigious engineering school and a research institute (11 joint research units) with an international reputation and a strong culture of scientific excellence (6 Nobel Prizes). ESPCI is located in the heart of Paris, in the 5th arrondissement.
