This project aims to improve the mechanical properties of recycled plastics by adding new tailor-made additives developed at the LCMCP. Although the recycling sector is rapidly expanding, too few recycled plastics are actually reused (or regenerated), particularly polyolefins, due to a often drastic loss of their properties during use and recycling, as well as the presence of residual additives.

Furthermore, the addition of new functional particles to polymers through reactive extrusion leads to the formation of (nano)composites with significantly enhanced mechanical properties. In addition, the chemical nature of the functional groups on the surface of the particles results in a material that remains recyclable.
