Webinar – Sustainable Chemistry Tuesday
The next “Sustainable Chemistry Tuesday” event organized by the Sustainable Chemistry Division of the French Chemical Society will take place on November 25, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. via videoconference, on the topic: “MOFs in CO2 reduction photocatalysis: a combined experimental and theoretical approach.”
The topic will be presented by Caroline Mellot-Draznieks, Research Director at the CNRS and Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Biological Process Chemistry.
Abstract: Transforming CO2 into value-added carbon compounds (CO, formic acid, CH4, etc.) through photocatalysis is one of many strategies for recovering CO2 from the atmosphere. In this context, our group has focused its research efforts on the use of MOFs as a platform for developing photosystems capable of capturing visible light and hosting catalytic sites capable of fixing and transforming CO2 into molecules of interest. A few selected examples will illustrate various MOF functionalization strategies that we have adopted to achieve photocatalytic CO2 reduction or water oxidation.
The 30-40 minute presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
Moderators: Joel Barrault, Hervé Toulhoat, Zacharias Amara, Laure Benhamou, Jérôme Guillard, and Estelle Metay.
