Assistant Professor (tenure-track) – AI and Modelling in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at École Polytechnique is seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor to start on 1 September 2026 in the field of artificial intelligence, specialising in chemical modelling. This position is offered within the framework of the interdisciplinary centre for data analysis and artificial intelligence, Hi! Paris. The Hi! Paris centre conducts innovative interdisciplinary research in the field of artificial intelligence and data science.

Candidates, who must hold a PhD, will be required to present a research project combining AI and chemistry, for example in the following areas: accelerating computational chemistry (e.g. molecular modelling, property predictions, etc.), the accelerated discovery of new materials, new synthetic routes and molecules of interest for medicine, or the optimisation of separation or catalytic processes (e.g. separation technologies, choice of catalysts, optimisation of reaction conditions).

They will aim to establish their original research activity in one of the laboratories of the Department of Chemistry (Laboratory of Molecular Chemistry, Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics, Laboratory of Organic Synthesis).
