Researcher (M/F) – shaping of MOFs in the frame of SIMIACCI project

The Paris Institute of Porous Materials (IMAP), a joint unit of CNRS/ENS/ESPCI Paris/PSL, is recruiting a researcher in MOF shaping for the decontamination of heritage objects in GLAMs.

Desired start date: March 1, 2026.

IMAP has internationally recognized expertise in the synthesis and characterization of crystallized hybrid porous solids such as Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and their associated composites, with a view to applications in the fields of energy and the environment (CO2 capture, capture of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), detection, catalysis (H2 production, etc.), heat exchange, batteries, biomedicine, etc.).

The European SIMIACCI project aims to protect heritage objects from pollutants such as VOCs, NOx, H2S, and humidity. In this context, MOFs materials are used to enable selective adsorption of different pollutants. However, shaping these materials is an essential step in their use in GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums).

Responsibilities

The main objectives of the postdoctoral position are:

  • Shaping porous solids such as MOFs.
  • Characterizing materials using powder X-ray diffraction, nitrogen porosimetry, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, etc.

Required knowledge and skills

  • PhD in chemistry/physical chemistry of materials
  • Knowledge and experience in shaping and characterizing crystallized porous solids
  • Motivation, autonomy, and good adaptability
  • Rigorous, proactive, and good reporting skills
  • Good level of English
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
