CRIT-MINE

Critical minerals, such as arsenic (As), bismuth (Bi) and tungsten (W), are metals or metalloids that are widely used in technology but whose extraction and/or resources are difficult to access. Knowing which mineral phases contain these elements is essential for economic and environmental reasons: economically, because France seeks to ensure its mineral resource sovereignty, and environmentally, because these minerals can become pollutants through weathering. The CRIT-MINE project aims to identify the forms richest in As, Bi, and W, as well as the most stable forms, and the strategies that control the dynamics of these elements in some highly human-impacted environment.
