Trojan-POM
Trojan horse-like PolyOxoMetalates for lipid extraction from microalgae
Microalgae are biosources of high-value molecular building blocks, which can be extracted upon cavitation of the cellular wall and membrane. Currently used extraction techniques still have a high risk of leading to cell death, preventing from the renewability of the production. In this project, we propose to use molecular metallic oxides as trojan horses to induce self-healable chemo-cavitation of the cellular envelope and trigger the release of lipids. Moreover, we will integrate these molecules in microfluidic chips to perform simultaneous chemical and mechanical cavitation, to improving the release of the contents, while preserving the cell viability.
