Production, upgrading and management of strategic gases
The challenges related to strategic molecules, such as hydrogen and CO2, from their production, capture, purification, storage and transport, to their transformation, are at the heart of MaTerRE’s priorities.
On the one hand, decarbonization of industrial processes will only be achieved through the use of energy-intensive energy carriers such as hydrogen. Its “green” production leads to a short-term preference for electrocatalysis even if there are other production methods to explore. The search for more efficient hydrogen purification and/or storage solutions is also a major challenge. On the other hand, the urgent need to reduce the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere requires the development of new CO2 capture, storage and recovery solutions in order to create a circular CO2 economy, which may be used for the production of synthetic fuels, medicinal products or solvents.
Will be preferred the reflections on:
- New modes of green hydrogen production/purification and storage
- CO2 capture and recovery for a circular economy.
