The interaction between light and matter is fundamental for energy-related applications, as energy is carried by light and can be manipulated through material design. This workshop aims gathering scientists, engineers, and industrial partners working on materials and technologies that focus on the optical properties to address challenges in energy saving and conversion.

The workshop will cover a broad range of topics, including energy-saving solutions such as optical coatings, radiative cooling, and smart glazing systems that dynamically regulate heat flow. It will also highlight energy conversion technologies, such as photocatalysis, photoelectrochemical processes, and photovoltaics, with a focus on novel materials, advanced light-trapping designs, and enhanced photon absorption strategies. In addition to material innovations, the workshop will address the real-world integration of optical devices in buildings, vehicles, and textiles, tackling key challenges related to durability, scalability, and cost. Advanced optical characterization techniques, including operando spectroscopy, time-resolved imaging will be explored to gain deeper insights into material performance under real-world conditions.

With a strong research community in Ile-de-France working on optical materials, this workshop presents a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange between researchers from chemistry, physics, and engineering.
