Assistant Professor (M/F) – Double Lamellar Hydroxides at Université Clermont Auvergne
A position as Assistant Professor is available at Clermont Auvergne University with a research profile focused on the topic of Double Lamellar Hydroxides at the Clermont-Ferrand Institute of Chemistry.
Teaching profile
The candidate will join the teaching team at the Chemistry Department of Clermont Auvergne University. This department consists of around fifty teacher-researchers, teachers, and technical and administrative staff who are involved in several programs ranging from bachelor’s degrees (general and professional) to master’s degrees. With a background in solid state chemistry/inorganic chemistry or materials chemistry, he/she will teach Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses, including practical work, tutorials, and lectures on subjects ranging from general chemistry in the first year to inorganic/solid state chemistry in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses. The candidate must be able to teach chemistry fluently in French. The candidate will also be involved in supervising projects and internships and developing work-study programs in connection with the socio-economic world of the courses offered by the Chemistry Department.
Research profile
The successful candidate will be involved in research activities related to double layer hydroxides at the Inorganic Materials team at the Clermont-Ferrand Institute of Chemistry (ICCF). This team has recognized expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and applications of double layer hydroxide materials. The successful candidate will be required to develop a research topic focused on the design of hybrid or non-hybrid lamellar matrices and the development of composites involving the combination of these low-dimensional matrices with functional entities that may be inorganic (metal or oxide nanoparticles, coordination complexes, polyoxometalates, etc.) or (bio)organic (bio)polymers, enzymes, carbonaceous materials). The successful candidate will focus on synthesizing these materials using green chemistry approaches, as they can also be used as functional fillers in polymers. The targeted applications will be related to either the environment for the trapping and degradation of contaminants (photo/electrocatalysis), energy (conversion, storage, production of energy carriers, lighting) or health (controlled release, vectorization, antibacterials, etc.).
Particular attention will be paid to the multi-scale characterization of these materials and understanding their physicochemical properties at interfaces. In addition to expertise in inorganic synthesis, candidates are expected to have a good knowledge of in-depth characterization techniques and one of the fields of application. The research integration project must be consistent with the job profile. This project should highlight how the candidate’s experience and skills can be put to good use in the context of the Double Lamellar Hydroxides theme.
Contact
Candidates are invited to contact the research team at christine.taviot-gueho@uca.fr prior to the competition to discuss the topics being developed and to develop a research integration project that can be linked to the activities carried out.
