Air Liquide and the ENS announce the creation of a chair in ‘AI for and through chemistry’
Air Liquide, the École normale supérieure (ENS-PSL) and the ENS Foundation are launching a new research chair dedicated to artificial intelligence applied to chemistry and materials science. Entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence for Chemistry and through Chemistry’, it is the first chair to be established as part of normalesup.ai, the ENS’s interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to research, training and innovation in AI.
The chair aims to develop new methods combining machine learning with fundamental knowledge of chemistry, in particular to reduce data requirements, integrate physico-chemical laws into AI models and accelerate the discovery of new molecules and materials. This work aims to contribute to major industrial, technological, energy and environmental challenges.
The project also includes a training component, with the aim of preparing a new generation of researchers working at the interface between AI, chemistry and materials science. For Air Liquide, this collaboration forms part of a broader strategy aimed at harnessing AI to accelerate innovation and the development of new technologies.
