Rational design of biopolymers for earthen construction coatings

All around the globe, conurbations are increasingly more attentive to their resilience. This justifies the recent strong focus on earthen constructions in cities were large amount of excavated earth are available and currently disposed of at a high environmental cost.

This project, not only aims at reducing the carbon footprint of construction but also at making earthen construction more adapted to climate change by making them more water resistant. This will be achieved by designing specific biosourced polymers that will increase the water resistance of the clay used for earthen constructions.
