CLARITY
Chiral pLasmonic cAtalysts foR enantIoselective phoTochemistrY.
In CLARITY we propose to combine the unique optical properties of plasmonic metal nanoparticles with asymmetric reactivity, aiming at performing heterogeneous and asymmetric photocatalytic reactions solely driven by plasmons. Such paradigm opens the door to a new type of sustainable enantioselective reactivity, particularly relevant in the current search for more affordable, efficient and environmentally-friendly chemical processes.
In order to do so we need first to properly characterize the chiroptical plasmonic features of these materials. Accordingly, CLARITY is intended for the acquisition of a dedicated circular dichroism spectrometer that will allow us to follow the extent of the plasmon-induced phototransformations presented in the current project.
