UPNYL-USIO: Turning nylon waste into innovative new materials

The UPNYL-USIO project (LCMCE and CEA), led by Marie Kobylarski, is based on an innovative way of overcycling nylons, plastics widely used in industry (textiles, automotive, etc.). Unlike the rare recycling processes currently used for these plastics, the process developed in the laboratory chemically transforms nylons into new, high added-value materials. This method provides access to innovative compounds while tackling the problem of managing nylon waste.
