Melting and Powdering Line
The MPL (Melting and Powdering Platform) project aims to invest in equipment for developing materials through melting/solidification and powder metallurgy. The set of two high-frequency induction furnaces with cold crucibles allows the melting of metal elements (few grams) under secondary vacuum, with an accurate control of temperature. In addition, the ultrasonic powder atomizer is also suitable for producing metal powders in a flexible and versatile manner, adapted to the development of new materials. This set of equipment will connect and strengthen the existing line of production and enable the study of materials for energy storage and conversion, advanced structural metallic alloys, as well as fundamental research on thermodynamic stability and hardening mechanisms. This is a unifying project for the Paris region, bringing together several partner laboratories from the academic and industrial worlds.
