ULTRA-finely grained thermoelectric SKUTterudites

Thermoelectric generation could compete with other established technologies in the market of waste heat recovery at high temperature (> 600 K), if based on materials with a thermoelectric figure of merit larger than 0.6. Cheap thermoelectric “unfilled skutterudites” could fulfill this requirement if their figure of merit was improved. This project aims at reaching this objective by decreasing the thermal conductivity of the skutterudites after following an approach where heat carrying crystal lattice vibrations are strongly scattered at an atomic- and at a nano- scale
