Call for projects informations
The Region supports scientific employment linked to the needs of businesses by co-funding PhD grants involving an academic laboratory and a socio-economic partner.
For what type of project?
The Region is co-financing between €100,000 and €120,000 maximum for 36-month PhD research grants for projects with a digital dimension on the themes detailed below in the text of the call for projects:
- Energy transition: energy efficiency, energy technologies, storage and waste management. (CO2 capture and storage; nuclear, solar, wind, bioenergy, etc.)
- Impact of climate change and exceptional events (wind, heatwaves, etc.) on buildings and infrastructure.
(Other themes exist but do not fall within the scope of the MaTerRE DIM)
Who can benefit?
Young scientists carrying out their doctorate in partnership with a higher education research establishment and a socio-economic organisation based in the Paris Region.
In line with European criteria for scientific and technological jobs, there are no nationality, age or gender criteria for applicants.
Applicants for this grant must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Master 2 or equivalent degree and not hold a doctorate,
- Be enrolled in a doctoral school in the Paris region, in the 1st year of a doctorate at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year,
- Be committed to starting their doctoral research in January 2026 at the latest.
What is the nature of the support?
Funding for the salaries of doctoral students, between €100,000 and €120,000 maximum per PhD student, to remunerate their research activity.
Regional funding is granted to the institutions employing the selected doctoral students.
Co-financing over the 3 years (excluding any management costs) is expected from the socio-economic partners (doctoral student’s salary, related costs, etc.).
For companies, this will be a minimum of €20,000 over 3 years, with the Region co-financing up to €100,000.

Applications must be submitted by the laboratory’s thesis director on the mesdemarches.iledefrance.fr platform.
